BeginnerStep-by-Step Solutions
This error is primarily network-related and usually fixable. Large game downloads are more susceptible to timeout issues due to their size and duration.
Restart Console and Power Cycle Network
Hold the POWER button for 3 seconds → select 'Power Options' → 'Restart'. Then unplug your router and modem for 60 seconds, plug back in and wait for full initialization.
Move Closer to Router
Place the Nintendo Switch within 3-5 meters (10-15 feet) of your wireless router. Remove the console from the dock if needed to get better signal strength.
Change DNS Settings
System Settings → Internet → Advanced Settings → DNS Settings → Manual. Set Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8, Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS).
Switch Wi-Fi Band
If your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, connect to the other band. Create a new internet connection and select the less congested frequency.
Remove Wireless Interference
Move metal objects, phones, microwaves, and other electronic devices away from both the console and router to reduce wireless interference.
Create New Internet Connection
System Settings → Internet → Internet Settings → '+' to add new connection. Set up fresh connection with optimal settings.
