Official Solution
Could not connect to the Wi-Fi network. This may be because the Wi-Fi signal is too weak or the wireless password entered is incorrect.
Move the PS4 closer to your router to improve signal strength. Please also confirm you are entering the correct password, as they are case-sensitive.
Common Symptoms
- The PS4 fails to connect to a Wi-Fi network, showing error code NW-31295-0.
- The Wi-Fi signal strength is shown as very low, even when the router is nearby.
- The error occurs during the 'Test Internet Connection' process, failing at the 'Obtain IP Address' step.
- Other devices can connect to the same Wi-Fi network without any issues.
Hardware Information
This is a network connectivity error. It is typically caused by a weak signal, network interference, or incorrect router/PS4 settings. In very rare cases, a persistent inability to connect to any network could indicate a fault with the PS4's internal Wi-Fi module, but this is uncommon.

BeginnerStep-by-Step Solutions
Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive. Double-check that you are entering uppercase and lowercase letters correctly.
Restart PS4 and Network Hardware
First, fully restart your PS4 console. Then, unplug your modem and router for at least 60 seconds. Plug them back in, wait for them to fully boot up, and then try connecting the PS4 again.
Set Up Connection Again
Go to Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection > Use Wi-Fi > Easy. Select your network from the list and re-enter the password carefully.
Change DNS Settings Manually
When setting up the connection, choose 'Custom' instead of 'Easy'. Select your network, then choose 'Automatic' for IP Address, 'Do Not Specify' for DHCP Host Name, and then 'Manual' for DNS Settings. Enter 8.8.8.8 for Primary and 8.8.4.4 for Secondary.
Change Wi-Fi Frequency Bands
If your router is dual-band, your PS4 may be struggling to connect. While in the network setup screen, press the OPTIONS button to bring up the 'Wi-Fi Frequency Bands' menu. Try changing this from 'Automatic' to '5 GHz Only' or '2.4 GHz Only' to force a specific connection.
