⚠️ Important Warning

Official Solution
PlayStation Support advises deleting the incomplete update (Notifications → Options → Delete), power-cycling console + router, then retrying System Software Update.
If the error persists, install the latest firmware from USB in Safe Mode option 3 or 7.
Common Symptoms
- Update stops at 24-30 %, then "Cannot install update. (SU-42118-6)"
- Disc drive fails to accept or eject discs after the error appears
- Audible clicking / beeping from BD-ROM; digital games still launch
Hardware Information
Code indicates the PS4 can't poll the Blu-ray drive board → update aborts. Typical causes: blown BD-ROM fuse F6201/F6202, torn ribbon cable, or mismatched daughterboard.
Disc releases of God of War, The Last of Us Part II, Elden Ring — install fails mid-update when drive communication drops.
